iGaming Startups Series: Interview with SavageTech
At OnlyiGaming, we’re excited to bring you insights from emerging companies that are shaping the future of the iGaming industry. Today, we’re speaking with Tom Jang Lemke, CEO at SavageTech, a B2B SaaS company that has created the world’s most advanced gamified retention engine for the iGaming industry.
In this exclusive interview, we explore SavageTech’s journey, challenges, and future plans. Here’s a closer look at what sets them apart in the iGaming industry.
Introduction
What is your company name, and what does it specialize in? Our company is called SavageTech and we are a B2B SaaS company that created the world’s most advanced gamified retention engine for the iGaming industry.
Can you describe your mission in a sentence or two? Our iframe solution gives an operator the ability to let its users play with a virtual avatar. Any time the user generates turnover, the avatar becomes stronger and embarks on an epic, 100% customizable adventure: becoming a football star, fighting against monsters, or shooting aliens in outer space!
Founding Story
When was your company founded, and by whom? SavageTech was founded in 2024 by Florian Kriegel, Lukas Beunder, and Tom Lemke.
What inspired you to start this company? We saw the need for operators to engage in a meaningful way with the new generation of punters. Esports betting alone did not cut it. Gen Y & Z want instant gratification, and let's not forget: 86% of them are gamers. So, we took a good look at the booming freemium mobile game industry and built SavageTech.
Key Innovations or Products
What are your key offerings or products? Our 100% customizable avatar grows stronger over time and collects actual in-game items that help to travel through worlds faster and unlock more content and bonuses. This avatar is non-transferable; thus, if you start leveling up your avatar on one platform, you stay on that platform. The more you play with it, the better rewards are within reach.
What makes your products or services unique in the iGaming industry? There are many gamifications out there. Our retention engine is non-intrusive, 100% customizable, and it is a real video game that we built. You could download this game from the iOS/Android store. It does not provide superficial badges or points; users are hunting for legendary items, for example, a golden football jersey, to improve their avatars!
Challenges and Achievements
What are some challenges you’ve faced as a startup, and how have you overcome them? The biggest problem is finding an integration window with operators. We divide them into two categories: using 3rd party platform providers and having built their own tech stack. The latter is, of course, a lot easier to work with.
What milestones or achievements are you most proud of? Every time I am attending a conference and I approach industry veterans to show them our solution on my iPad, the response is always the same: “I have never seen something like this before!” and then they just continue playing with it. That shows me that we’ve created a really cool product that captures the attention of the user and engages them, making them curious to find out more.
Future Goals
What are your goals for the future? Short term: We are in the middle of raising our seed round, which is almost completed. Long term: Change the mindset of operators: You’ve spent so much money to acquire the customer. Let’s give this customer additional reasons to stay with you. This view of “We can just spend more money on prospecting to discover FTDs” is not sustainable.
Do you have any upcoming launches, partnerships, or plans for growth? Yes, we have some big news we will share very soon, not only about our seed round but also in terms of B2C and B2B partnerships, but I cannot share that at this point.
Founder’s Perspective
What drives your passion for iGaming? I have been working in the iGaming industry since 2007. I started out as a live-trader. I managed and/or co-founded four different esports betting platforms, and my goal was always to bring real gamification to the industry.
Can you share a quote or insight that reflects your company’s vision or values? We need to adapt to the new generation of bettors and not the other way around.
