Bucharest, September 23, 2025 – Leading Romanian betting operator Superbet has confirmed that it paid out more than €30 million after a technical incident led to oversized winnings for thousands of players while playing the slot game Fire Blaze Red Wizard.

7,500 Players Benefited from the Superbet Glitch

The error caused the slot to deliver oversized payouts almost every time it was accessed. According to Superbet, more than 7,500 customers exploited the bug before the issue was resolved.

Initially, Superbet froze the affected accounts, citing standard terms and conditions that exclude payouts from technical errors. However, in a surprise move, the operator later decided to honor all winnings in full.

Why Did Superbet Pay Out Despite the Rules?

In its official statement, the company framed the decision as a matter of trust and reputation:

“We do what is right for our customers, regardless of the circumstances,” Superbet announced. “By honoring these payments, we reinforce the confidence players have in our platform.”

The company stressed that the incident was fully contained and that Superbet’s betting platform remains secure and reliable.

    Playtech Responds

Playtech, the developer of Fire Blaze Red Wizard, has firmly denied any connection between its software and the incident. A spokesperson told Onlyigaming.com.

“We confirm that there are no malfunctions or gameplay issues with this or any other Playtech slot.
Playtech games are operating as normal, and any reported concerns are unrelated to Playtech game functionality.”

    Speculation Around the Superbet Bug

The glitch quickly went viral on Romanian social media, fueling speculation about tax avoidance schemes, fraud, or even hacking. Superbet rejected those claims, stating that the causes of the incident are still under analysis.

The company, which employs over 2,500 people, remains Romania’s largest locally owned betting operator and a key sponsor in professional football.
