The Engine Underneath iGaming Engagement. License the Platform, or Run the Programme With Our Studio on Top.
CompetitionLabs is the engagement engine underneath iGaming. One event-driven engine, two ways to consume it: license the enterprise-grade platform and run it in-house, or bring in The Studio, our embedded team that designs, builds, and operates gamification programmes on top of the engine for you.
Scale
Millions of players engaged
Billions of events a month
A decade in production
The Studio, we run it with you Gamification and customer engagement strategy, design, mechanics, and operations, built around your brand, your titles, and your players. You get an embedded team on top of the engine, not a login and a template library.
Built for your brand, not picked from a template library
Strategy, art direction, and operations run alongside your team
Live in weeks, iterated weekly on real player data
The Platform, you run it yourself License the enterprise-grade engine and run the programme in-house. Sub-second event processing, multi-brand Sub-Spaces, native integration with the CRM and bonus engine you already run.
Sits alongside your stack, no rip and replace
Sub-second triggers at scale
Billions of events every month
What the engine actually does
CRM at marketing speed, not engineering speed: live campaigns launched in minutes, no developer tickets, no release windows
Automated rewards: cash, bonuses, free spins, points, and prizes tied to deposits, gameplay, and repeat participation, fulfilled without manual work
Real-time behavioural segmentation: segments update live as players move, no overnight batches, no stale audiences
Personalised journeys: multi-step journeys triggered by real player behaviour, not scheduled uploads
Full localisation: multi-language, multi-currency, locale-aware campaigns configured without code
Automation engine: CRM, push notifications, rewards, and triggers connected through a single automation layer
Promotions & branding: white-label UI components and visual promotion builders, marketing owns the look, engineering doesn't own the queue
Founding story & vision Co-founded in 2015 by Julian Steinwender after two decades leading product, casino, and retention at operators including Betfair and Betsson (Betsafe). CompetitionLabs was built to fix a pattern seen across the industry: engagement, loyalty, and personalisation being treated as campaign add-ons rather than embedded platform capabilities. A decade on, the engine is in production at scale across operators, game studios, and platforms.
Technology Event-driven, API-first architecture. Sub-second triggers. Horizontally scalable. Multi-brand deployments on shared infrastructure. Anonymised data model, GDPR-ready, encrypted in transit and at rest, written to pass enterprise procurement.
Who we serve Used by operators, game studios, and platforms and aggregators across the iGaming vertical.

One event-driven platform for tournaments, missions, achievements, loyalty, rewards, real-time segmentation, personalised journeys, and CRM automation, delivered either as a licensed platform you run yourself, or as a fully embedded programme via The Studio.

Industry benchmark ranges the engine is designed to support (Third-party public benchmarks for well-executed gamification programmes, not guarantees.)
Session-duration uplift: 25–30%
Deposit-activity uplift: 18–23%
Day-30 retention: 15–25% (strong programmes), 30–40% (best-in-class mature lifecycle and loyalty programmes)
Who it's for
Operators: keep players competing across every product you run, leaderboard tournaments, slot challenges, achievement missions, and VIP tier journeys across casino, sportsbook, poker, and live
Game Studios: session depth and cross-title retention built into the game itself, tournaments and achievement layers embedded inside your titles, no operator dependency
Platforms & Aggregators: give every operator on your stack access to enterprise engagement via a single integration, tournaments, loyalty programmes, missions, and challenges exposed platform-wide
Customer workflow Stream player and gameplay events into CompetitionLabs. The engine evaluates rules, missions, and segments in real time, triggers rewards and personalised experiences, fulfils bonuses through your existing bonus engine and CRM, and feeds live data back into the operator's UI and reporting. When operators want acceleration, The Studio embeds on top and runs the programme end-to-end.
Product vision Make engagement infrastructure a permanent, real-time layer of iGaming, not a campaign afterthought. Give every operator, studio, and platform the same enterprise engagement core historically only the largest brands could build in-house, and pair it with a studio team when they need speed on top of the engine.
Benefits
Higher retention, session depth, and deposit activity via real-time, personalised engagement
Faster campaign launches with marketing owning the promotion, not engineering
One engagement stack across casino, sportsbook, poker, and live
No rip and replace, integrates alongside existing CRM and bonus engines
Multi-brand deployments on shared infrastructure for platforms and groups
Proven at billions-of-events-a-month scale, in production for a decade
A single enterprise engine powering six distinct programme types: engagement across any channel, tournaments and competitions, loyalty programmes and VIP journeys, instant rewards, challenges and missions, and achievements and collectables. Every programme runs on the same underlying infrastructure, licensed through the platform or designed and operated with the studio, so operators can mix and match mechanics without stitching multiple vendors together.
Sophisticated loyalty programmes that recognise, reward, and retain players across every segment. Combine points, status tiers, and exclusive perks into personalised journeys that increase loyalty and long-term player value, with automated tier management, eligibility rules, reward fulfilment, and communication triggers firing at each loyalty milestone so players always know where they stand and what comes next.
Achievement and collectable mechanics designed to turn short-term engagement into long-term habit. Branded badge, trophy, and milestone systems combined with tiered accomplishment structures and visual progress tracking give players compelling reasons to return, collect, and advance over time, with completion rates lifted by clear feedback loops and integrated rewards across the journey.
Multi-step mission flows with action-based progression that link tasks, events, and promotional activity into coherent narratives from first action to lasting habit. Opt-in or event-triggered activation, time-limited and always-on formats, personalised communication triggers at each stage, and native integration with tournaments and loyalty guide players through the whole lifecycle rather than isolated campaign moments.
Enterprise-grade platform built to pass procurement and security reviews in regulated markets. Anonymised data architecture, GDPR-ready design, encryption in transit and at rest, and robust operational controls mean gamification and engagement mechanics can be deployed at scale without compromising player data safeguards or compliance posture.
A full engagement toolkit shipped ready to run: in-session promotions and notifications, dynamic segmentation, ready-to-go engagement widgets, a promotions and campaign library available from day one, white-label tournament widgets embeddable in any UI, and progress tracking widgets with push notification support. Everything is easy to brand and customise, so teams launch faster and iterate on real player data.
Engagement across any channel, product, or interface. Reach players at the right moment with live promotional messaging, tailored engagement journeys, and campaigns that can be launched quickly, adapted as you learn, and used to build stronger player relationships over time. Delivered through fully API-driven infrastructure with real-time data sync so every touchpoint reflects live behaviour.
Customisable tier structures ranging from entry-level to elite VIP, with points-based, activity-based, or hybrid models to match any operator strategy. Automated tier management, eligibility checks, and reward fulfilment handle the operational load, while exclusive VIP promotions, rewards, and activities keep top-tier players engaged and personalised triggers keep the whole ladder moving.
Loyalty as a first-class programme, not a campaign afterthought. Points, status, and exclusive perks combined into personalised journeys with automated eligibility, fulfilment, and communication triggers at every milestone. Backed by an engine that has been running loyalty and engagement programmes in production for a decade across regulated iGaming markets.
VIP tiers that recognise, reward, and retain your highest-value players. Exclusive VIP promotions, rewards, and activities, automated tier management and eligibility, and personalised communication triggers at each VIP milestone, all delivered through the same engine that runs the rest of the engagement stack so VIP feels connected to the wider player experience.
Dynamic segmentation and personalised journeys triggered by real player behaviour rather than scheduled uploads. Segments update in real time as players move, campaigns adapt to what players are actually doing, and every channel, product, and interface can be tuned to the individual player with configurable reward rules by segment, activity, or event.
Real-time data sync and dynamic segmentation deliver the right offer to the right player at the right moment. Reward rules can be configured by segment, activity, or event, surprise-and-delight mechanics fire based on live behaviour, and every campaign reflects the player's current state instead of yesterday's snapshot.
A fully API-driven platform with a promotions and campaign library available from day one, ready-to-go engagement widgets, and everything easy to brand and customise. Marketing and CRM teams can design, launch, and iterate campaigns quickly, backed by custom campaign creation and in-house design and branding support from the studio when they want acceleration.
Real-time leaderboard updates with sub-second latency, real-time data sync across every programme, and performance tracking and optimisation feeding back into the operator's UI and BI stack. No overnight batches, no stale audiences, and no waiting for yesterday's data to make today's decisions.
Multi-language and multi-locale support built into the platform, so tournaments, loyalty programmes, missions, and campaigns feel local to every market while running on one global engine. Configured without code and delivered without a rewrite, so scaling into new regions does not require a new implementation.
Fully API-driven, event-driven architecture with open APIs for real-time data sync and modular integration into the CRM, bonus engine, and wider stack you already run. Sits alongside the existing tech estate rather than replacing it, so operators, studios, and platforms can adopt individual programmes without a rip-and-replace project.
Enterprise-grade, multi-tenanted cloud infrastructure running six programme types on one engine, at sub-second latency and production scale. Multi-brand Sub-Spaces allow operators, platforms, and groups to run isolated programmes on shared infrastructure, with two consumption models on the same underlying platform: license the engine directly, or run the programme with the studio on top, so operators choose the level of hands-on support without changing the technology underneath.
